چکیده

This review discusses the development of any QRS detection algorithm based on three assessment criteria: robustness to noise, parameter choice, and numerical efficiency. This is because of there is a need nowadays for fast and robust QRS detection algorithms to be deployed on mobile phones, and run over large ECG databases and wireless medical body area network. Till now, there is no satisfying universal solution for detecting QRS complex given the fact it was a topic of investigation for the last 30 years. The difficulty arises mainly because of the diversity of the QRS waveforms, abnormalities, low SNR and the artifacts accompanying the ECG signals. The existing QRS detection algorithms may provide an acceptable solution on small ECG segments, within a certain amplitude range, amid particular type of arrhythmia, or/and noise. These issues are discussed in comparison with the most conventional algorithms, followed by recommendations for developing a reliable QRS detection suitable for large-recorded ECG signals and battery-

Revisiting QRS Detection Methodologies for Portable, Wearable, Battery-Operated, and Wireless ECG Systems

Cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death worldwide. Currently, portable battery-operated systems such as mobile phones with wireless ECG sensors have the potential to be used in continuous cardiac function assessment that can be easily integrated into daily life. These portable point-of-care diagnostic systems can therefore help unveil and treat cardiovascular diseases. The bas...

A Unified Framework for Delineation of Ambulatory Holter ECG Events via Analysis of a Multiple-Order Derivative Wavelet-Based Measure

In this study, a new long-duration holter electrocardiogram (ECG) major events detection-delineation algorithm is described which operates based on the false-alarm error bounded segmentation of a decision statistic with simple mathematical origin. To meet this end, first three-lead holter data is pre-processed by implementation of an appropriate bandpass finite-duration impulse response (FIR) f...

Euclidean Distance Measure for the Electrocardiogram Fiducial Points Detection in the Phase-Space Formed with the Derivative Rule

Developments in mobile healthcare result in wide use of mobile phones to acquire, store or analyse mobile users’ biosignals, such as the electrocardiogram (ECG). These activities have motivated global research in designing new QRS-complex detectors and delineators for single-lead ECG signals. This paper examines a QRS detection and delineation algorithm based on a Euclideandistance calculation ...

A Low Cost Remote Cardiac Monitoring Framework for Rural Regions

Cardiovascular diseases in rural developing countries take a large toll of human lives, due to inadequate quality health care facilities and their limited reach to the patients. The burgeoning population of developing nations make the linear organic scaling of health care facilities impractical to cater the diverse rural geography. Hence it is imperative to scale the health care facilities thro...
